Frequently Asked Questions for BAVE Community Choir

1. What are the requirements for me to be part of this choir?
- You have to be minimum 18 years of age, no serious health condition &able to make it for rehearsals.

2. Do I need any music background or experience ?
- No. Everyone is welcome to join, as long as you have the interest and desire to sing in a group.

3. Is there an audition for this choir?
- No.  This s a non-auditioned community based choir. Everyone is welcome to sing. Passion is more important as a community choir.

4. Must I be able to read music notes ?
- Not a requirement. Our choir directors are skilled to help you sing in harmony and gradually introduce you to musical notation in a very easy approach.

5. What kind of songs will we sing in this choir?
- A good mix or Musical Theater (Broadway), Pop, Evergreen, Folk Songs, Classical etc. 

6. Is there a fee to be part of this choir?
- Yes. In order to serve the community better, we engage only in selected music professionals that we trust to lead our groups. We also provide one of the best learning facilities for coral training in the country. Therefore a minimal sum of fee will help us maintain the studio and also to engage our trainers.  Membership fees are collected annually at the beginning of the season. We provide various methods of payment including split monthly payment by our third party payment portals. Our helpful person in charge will be happy to assist you with this. All payments will be done via online banking or online payment only. Our staff are strictly not allowed to receive cash or cheque payments.

7. What will I get upon registration?
- Upon successfully registering yourself and fees payment done, update the person in charge. You will be added into the Offical Choir Info-Chat group. During your first rehearsal, you will receive the rehearsal schedule with details on songs etc. You may purchase your music scores when you arrive on the first day of rehearsals. Music score prices vary depending on how many pages there are for each song. Each page is priced at RM0.30 cents per page.

8. What do i need to bring for rehearsals?
- Black Music Folder & Pencils, highlighters etc. If you would like t know more on specific choir folders, please ask our friendly Person In Charge.

9. Is the parking at the academy?
- Yes. Choristers have the option to park in the basement parking or at the street parking opposite the building.

10. Are there any shops for food around the academy ?
- There is a cafe below our academy that opens from 8:00am till 6:00pm. Aside from this, there are plenty of shops across our building.

11. Can I bring a guest to family member or children to sit in the rehearsals ?
- In order to maintain a conducive environment for all choristers, we reserve all sessions for officially registered choristers only. This also protects the privacy of all our choristers to feel comfortable and safe. If you have someone who wishes to know more about our choir, please let our Person in Charge know and we will arrange a pre-view for them. 

12. What are the benefits and outcome from being part of this choir?
- Build confidence in using your voice effectively in a safe manner. Discover what your voice can do. Build singing skills dan the ability to sing in parts and harmony. Make new friends with people who share the same passion and develop healthy networking. Opportunities to perform and get rid of stage fright. 

13. Whats next if I excel in this choir and have the desire to do more ?
- We would be happy to assist you to audition for our other intermediate or advanced choir ensembles. There are also specific classes for those who wish to target in a specific area of their vocal studies.
